Balder

Balder was my uncle and aunt’s dog. He was a big black Labrador, born in 2008 — the same year as me.

He was larger than most Labradors, and definitely bigger than me. But I cared about him a lot. We often looked after him when my uncle and aunt went on vacation, and I thought that was the best thing ever.

He would play with Coco in the garden and join us on our walks around Damhussøen. When he was lying on the floor sleeping, I would often lie down next to him. I loved just lying there, looking at his shiny black fur and his half-open brown eyes. Sometimes, I would even fall asleep beside him.
I also loved playing with him in my uncle and aunt’s garden and helping hold his leash when we went for walks.

Balder even had his own Facebook page and appeared on the cover of many Christmas cards. He was also trained as a rescue dog by my aunt and learned lots of fun tricks. He was the sweetest big dog, and he lived a good, long life. He passed away in 2020, twelve years old, and he is deeply loved and missed by many.
