Sulaima and Shakespeare

Travelstories·Silke Vestlev·Feb 7, 2025· 1 minute

Most people have certain expectations about how things should be, sometimes without even realizing it.

When we were in Denmark, I went to an outdoor Shakespeare performance with some friends.

Of course, I brought both of my dogs. But strange people in costumes running around shouting can actually be pretty scary — at least when you're a tiny Toy Poodle weighing barely three kilos.

And when you are a tiny three-kilo Toy Poodle, you know that, no matter what, the best response is probably to bark.

But honestly, that's fair enough. We had walked a long way through Copenhagen, and by the time we got to the performance, Sulaima was completely exhausted and couldn’t handle anything Shakespeare-related at all.

So I thought, fair enough — it’s okay to be small and tired.

Instead of pushing her to sit nicely beside me, I decided to let her do it her way.

And apparently, her way was lying on my lap, with her head and upper body tucked completely inside my wool sweater.

And the rest of her body sprawled across Yuna. But, of course, lying on her back.

With all four legs sticking straight up into the air.
